Notes

99^th Independent Infantry Brigade Group became part of 6^th Mountain Division when the latter was raised in 1963 or 1964.
One Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest gallantry award, was posthumously awarded to Captain G.S. Salaria (Indian Commision 8497) of the 3/1^st Gorkha Rifles, for action on December 5, 1961, against Katanga rebels and mercenaries. Two Maha Vir Chakras, the next highest award, were also awarded posthumously to the same battalion, as were three Vir Chakras, the third highest award.
